Earth Awareness

Loyal Earth Festival is committed to healthy changes for the earth. Starting with recycling and eco-education, the Saint Louis community at large will be equipped with knowledge about the environment as well as sensible solutions to environmentally hazardous habits, such as not recycling and wasteful power usage. Our mission is to educate the community about healthier alternatives for the planet and all its inhabitants, while practicing the most practical and essential form of eco-awareness: recycling.

Loyal Earth is happy to announce that Saint Louis Earthways will be on sight educating the community with daily thematic demonstrations on composting and recycling. With several hands-on demonstrations for all ages, we will provide the community with a foundation for a healthier lifestyle.

Focusing on the planet’s well-being we will feature the following:

  • Recycling Demos: There will be recycling bins located at each “waste” station with someone to guide you if needed. This will provide a much needed reinforcement of what is recyclable and how easy it is to recycle . Earthways of Saint Louis, a division of the Missouri Botanical Gardens will also be a partner in the recycling demonstrations. www.earthwayscenter.org
  • Eco Education: Education is not limited to a certain age. Bring the children and learn as a family, about practicing eco-friendly habits at home, school and work.
  • Information Booths: There will be a row for local vendors to provide educational information for the community. Learn what is going on right here in your own neighborhood.
  • NO #6 Plastic: Our vendors will not be serving #6 plastics. #6 plastic, or polystyrene isn’t healthy for you or the environment. Styrene can leach from polystyrene and is toxic to the brain and nervous system, and it is hard to recycle.
  • Hands on Demonstrations: Earthways of Saint Louis will be hosting various demonstrations each night with a focus on ecological awareness and steps you can take to green your life.
  • Pure Power: Our electricity for this event will come from renewable sources, thanks to Ameren’s Pure Power program.
  • Shop Local: Visit vendors and help our community thrive. Supporting locally owned businesses helps to sustain compact, walkable town centers, which are essential to reducing sprawl, automobile use, habitat loss and air/water pollution.

This is only the beginning… We know we are not doing everything under the sun, but we are taking steps forward. This year we are hopefully planting a seed for further growth in years to come.
